The Physical Therapists at CardioFlex Therapy are proud to support Walk Now for Autism Speaks this Saturday, September 26 at Nova Southeastern University. Autism Spectrum Disorder is a complex disorder of the brain that affects over three million Americans and one in 68 children born every year. The factors that contribute to the disorder are unknown and research is underway to find the cause.
Please show your support by taking part in the Walk or providing a donation. Registration will take place at 7:30 am on the Alvin Sherman Library green at Nova Southeastern University. Parking will be free and there will be free refreshments, music, and an activity zone for children.
Event Location: Alvin Sherman Library Nova Southeastern University 3100 Ray Ferrero, Jr. Blvd. Fort Lauderdale, FL 33314

The role of physical therapy is to help patients who have difficulty with functional movement, poor balance, and challenges moving through their environment successfully. Children and adult patients with ASD can have trouble with several large postural tasks, such as sitting, walking, running, jumping, and balance. Studies have shown the prevalence of low muscle tone (hypotonia), toe-walking, ankle stiffness, motor apraxia, and increased motor stereotypes in children with autism.
Funds from the walk will go to biomedical research, awareness, and support for those families dealing with the disease.
